Tree Surgeon Worcester for Tree Removals/Tree Felling

Tree removal might be required if a tree is dead, damaged or diseased past the point of saving, or is causing problems with surrounding houses. You might also want to remove a tree for aesthetic reasons.

Whatever the reason for removal, before any work is undertaken we will assess the tree and its surroundings to decide on the best technique for safe removal.

Stump Grinding

Stump grinding is the process of removing the stump left behind after a tree is felled or dismantled. It includes the tree bowl and root system.

You may choose to have the stump ground out if you want to landscape the ground or where the tree has suffered a disease that can spread from tree to tree (such as honey fungus, for example).

Crown

Reductions, Thinning, Raising and Pruning

Crown reduction, thinning, raising and pruning are all vital forms of tree maintenance that help to keep a tree healthy and safe.

Each of these services reduces the size, shape and/or density of a tree, with foliage removed from the outside perimeter of the tree, working inwards towards the crown.

Deadwood removal

Deadwood removal describes the process of removing dead limbs and/or branches from a tree. Deadwood will eventually break away from the tree and could pose a danger, especially if the tree is in a garden or other urban landscape.

Removing deadwood reduces the weight of the tree, which in turn lowers the risk of dead limbs or branches falling when storms or high winds roll in.

In addition to deadwood removal being undertaken for safety reasons, it might also be done to ensure the tree stays as healthy as possible (deadwood is often a perfect environment for pests, certain types of which can damage a tree).

Site Clearance and Maintenance

Our Site Clearance and Maintenance service is most often used by businesses, but sometimes involves residential properties where garden overgrowth is significant and/or the land to be cleared is sizable.

We can provide as many qualified tree surgeons as needed to complete the largest of site clearances quickly and safely.

For areas that are densely populated with trees and/or shrubbery, we undertake a thorough analysis about the best methods for clearance before so much as a chainsaw is started.

Pollarding

Pollarding is a form of pruning that trims the branches of a tree back to their primary limbs or to the trunk (depending on the species).

Pollarding leads to a dense head of foliage, which in turn ensures the tree remains at a set height.

After pollarding, the process should be repeated every three to seven years (again, this is dependent upon the tree species).

If you’re unsure as to whether the trees you are protected by Tree Preservation Orders you should contact Birmingham City Council's planning department.

If the planning department confirms that your tree is indeed subject to a TPO, you’ll need to apply for permission to work on the tree. You can apply for permission via the Government Planning Portal, which will require your address and other information.

At this point, we should make it clear - any professional tree surgeon should advise you that it is illegal to willfully cut down, lop, top, destroy or damage a tree with a TPO. Doing so can carry a fine for up to £20,000 by a magistrates court if convicted.
